We have made Commission Builds for large companies including Delta Air Lines®, Chick-fil-A®, Boar’s Head®, Marvel Studios®, Bank of America®, and many more! We’ve also completed many projects for individuals for occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, and retirement celebrations! Our team of talented builders have combined decades of experience building custom creations out of LEGO® bricks. Your Great Idea
Once you have a great idea, be it a custom kit of your company’s mascot you’d like to make as a giveaway for the next trade show, the perfect anniversary gift for your spouse, or even just a special reward for yourself, now’s the time to start thinking about the specifics.
-Size/Scale: How big do you want your custom build to be? Do you have a table, bookshelf, or display case you plan to put it in? Do you want it to be Minifigure scale? Micro scale like many LEGO® Architecture® sets? Miniland scale like in the Legoland theme parks? If you’re not sure yet, we can help you decide or work backwards from your budget to determine what size is feasible.
-Budget: Do you have an idea of how much you want to spend on this project? While this isn’t required, it can be helpful for us to manage expectations. This isn’t a guarantee that we’re going to max out your budget, and it won’t affect our quote, but it will allow us to present suggestions and options that will best suit your needs!
-Deadline: Do you need this in time for a holiday, birthday, or company event? Let us know as soon as possible so we can gauge feasibility and start working the timeline into our schedule. Most custom kit work requires a minimum of 2 months due to the lead times to source parts and printed materials, but expediting is an option. We also get busy around the end of the year for the holiday season, so the sooner you let us know, the better!
-Build or Kit: Do you want your Commissioned project delivered as a finished built model or as a buildable kit with instructions? Finished builds are great surprise for a special occasion or display piece for an event. If you need a finished build glued, that may add significant cost to your quote. Buildable kits make for a more interactive gift experience but are also typically around double the cost of a finished build if only ordering a single kit.
Sticker Shock
Most of the cost of commission work goes towards the labor for our Master Builders to design your unique model out of LEGO® bricks with all the challenges and artistry that requires. Many people are surprised at the additional cost to make a build into a kit, but this essentially requires the same work to design a physical model, but also to convert the model into a digital file, create and playtest step-by-step instructions, and design and print those instructions and packaging materials. Producing sets is an economy of scale, so single custom sets can be very costly compared to retail LEGO® sets
